Janet's Jaunt

Sunday 24th July 2011

What a fabulous day, the weather was perfect and the scenery superb.

At Asda car park we met up with old friends and new. It was good to meet Alan & Carole, and Val & Kevin, we hope you all enjoyed your first run with us. Also a very special welcome to our visitors from overseas namely, Mikael and Erik from Sweden and Francis from New Zealand. Itís amazing how far people will travel for an MX5 run. Once greetings were over and lunch had been ordered we set off.

After crossing the new Clackmannanshire Bridge we headed north through Forest Mill and met with Ali and Drew at Powmill who were looking good after that long lie. At Yetts o`Muckhart we took the right fork to Dunning. This beautiful glen was just a taste of what was yet to come.

The start at Asda and Entering Dunning

Continuing on the narrow back roads we made our  way to Gilmerton where we picked up five more cars. The road took us up through the Sma Glen with yet more stunning scenery and at Amulree we turned left to Glen Quaich. Loch Freuchie was a striking shade of blue with the sun shining on it and our climb up over to Kenmore was spectacular.

Thanks to the staff at the Kenmore Hotel, who made us very welcome and served a lovely lunch in a beautiful setting.

Following lunch we held our raffle and raised a further sum of £155 which will go to The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Thanks to all who contributed to this. A big thank you also to the Kenmore Hotel for donating a nights bed and breakfast for two. It was also good to hear that the Gathering is back on this year and will be held in Dundee on the 4th of September.

Top prize winners and Leaving Kenmore

The second part of the run took us down the side of Loch Tay to Killin, through Glen Ogle to Loch Earn. At Comrie we waved goodbye to the group from Tayside and we headed over to Bracco. After negotiating the crossing of the A9 we headed up over Sheriff Muir to Dunblane. A quick detour around Doune brought us back to Stirling to a finish at Dobbies.

Look no hands and make way for the oldie

A big thanks to all who attended this run and we hope you all enjoyed it.

A huge thanks to Jim and Maria for all their assistance.
