THE GATHERING

Sunday 20th September 2009

Late September sunshine welcomed us all as we gathered at Dobbie’s Perth before Dot and Chas led us off into the Perthshire countryside, initially west through Glen Almond before turning north along the scenic drive to Strath Braan and then dropping down into Aberfeldy with the views of Schiehallion and Ben Lawers ahead. The route then followed the banks of the River Tay before heading off to Pitlochry along a picturesque tree lined single track and thankfully, given how narrow it is, little used road.
From there we climbed out of the town along the twisty A924 with its hairpins, dips and scenic views before heading up Glenshee to arrive at our lunch stop at the Spittal of Glenshee.

Soon after arriving we were joined by Graham Keats who is to be thanked for making his own way to join us and represent NSE and within a few minutes the convoy from NSS wound its way into the car park.

After hellos were said to acquaintances old and new we sat down to an excellent lunch which was followed by the regular raffle which raised £135.00 and Colin kindly advised that NSS’ share should be added to our own for inclusion in our charity appeal.  This kind gesture brings our total raised thus far for Help for Heroes to £476.00 and thanks again to all who contribute prizes and purchase raffle tickets.

After lunch and despite his disappointment at not winning the sheep in the raffle Chas led the CS convoy off down Glenshee and then through Glen Isla, past the Meikleour beech hedge and finally back to Dobbies Perth.
Another excellent run meeting pleasant company from other areas.

Thanks to Gavin and Colin for their organisation, Dot and Chas for leading us on the run and to everyone who participated for their attendance.
