"We start the day with skies of grey"
Now that does not seem right for a picnic run right?
Well never-the-less 9 cars containing 17 keen Hi-5s meet in Dingwall and discuss sandwich fillings (you know....just in case!) and head off with tops down and high hopes of sunny picnicing in their future.
A showery run up to Ullapool where we stop (for teas & pees) at the Ceilidh Place, where even inside we cannot get away from the wet weather!

Then with some cars carrying more cameras than a James Bond film set we have a spirited run up to Clachtoll beach...tops down once again.  As we navigate the twists and turns of the A835 and then move onto the even twistier and turnier (those are technical driving terms!) B869 there it is.....could it be.....SUN!!!!

With blue sky ahead our thoughts turn to who brought the sun-cream (well done Nina!) and that perhaps Mr Green wearing shorts was not so crazy after all.

Cars parked, boots emptied and we descend onto the white sands of Clachtoll with picnic baskets, tables, chairs, bats and balls, flasks and pretty much everything one needs for the Picnic-Perfection-Awards.
Perhaps a highlight for many was making friends with a wandering dog!
Games were played, paddles were paddled, picnics were picnicked.  We pack up our left-overs and head for the hills as the sun it seems may have a best before date on it.

Home we head via Rosehall and Bonar Bridge where Alex does not take up the many many many hints on the radio to invite all 16 of us for afternoon tea so we leave him there.

Despite the drizzles best efforts no tops were up in the making of this run.  As some head over the Struie home we say "Farewell" to the Easter-Ross contingent and stop briefly at the top to say our goodbyes and look forward to meeting again soon.

Great turnout today and we hope this is the first of our annual Picnic runs......where to next year!!!

Lovely run to Clachtoll Beach via Ullapool. Picnicking on the beach in sunny Scotland  - canít beat it. Thank you to Andy & Dorothy for organising the day and for ignoring the weather forecast! Great to catch up with everyone.
