The Quaich Run

Sunday 13th JAugust 2017

We had a great turnout of cars and members for the second Quaich run. 18 cars and 30 members. A trio of beautiful MK 1s right through to a couple of MK 4s. Great mixture of cars and people.

We all met up at Muckhart for tea and scones before departing at about 10:40. Everyone had the roof down as we looked forward to a sunny day.

Heading through Dunning Glen (unlike last year we all manage to negotiate the first part of the route!) we passed through Auchterarder, over Kinkell Bridge and headed towards Methven and a comfort stop at Bankfoot. Progress was a little slow at times with one or two getting delayed at temporary traffic lights and junctions. As we were a little behind time it was only 10 mins at Bankfoot before hitting the road again.

A couple of miles up the A9 then turn off to head through Dalguise, then Pitnacree and on to the lunch stop at Highland Safaris at Dull.
Highland Safaris had coned off a car park just for the club and had someone to greet us on arrival. We all went inside for lunch followed by a raffle for our two charities, Combat Stress and CHAS. During lunch we were all glad we had put the roofs up as we looked outside at the rain. For many it was an assumption that the rest of the day would be with the roof up!

The raffle raised a fantastic £93 which complemented the £28 put in the CHAS tin for Bobbie’s scones. Very many thanks to everyone for the fundraising.
Leaving lunch we were all happy that the rain had stopped and the roads were dry so we all had the roofs down.

For the run through Glen Quaich we split in to 2 groups with the intention of forming a single group again at the comfort stop at Comrie.  However, there were several crossed legs as the second group missed the turn off in Comrie so we all continued to the finish in Dunblane.

Many thanks to everyone for coming along and hope you all had a great day. The comments at the end were very complimentary.

Thanks to all.
