Registering a new number plate with Mazda

Postby Enjay » Sat Jun 22, 2019 7:01 pm

Can I ask any owners out there who have put a vanity plate on their car, and who use the Mazda system for electronic service (etc) record keeping, how you told Mazda about the change of number?

I still have the plate from my old NA on retention and I've been meaning to put it on my ND for ages now. However, a year or more ago I saw something about the Mazda system needing to be told about a number plate change to avoid records getting confused and them needing actual evidence of the change (such as maybe even paper evidence). Is that actually a thing or am I mis-remembering? If I am remembering correctly, can anyone tell me how to go about doing it, or point me to where the information is please? I've tried and failed to find it. Thanks.

On the Mazda DSR system is based on the VIN but you can search on the Reg Number of the car.

When you bring up the DSR for a specific vehicle, the screen that gives the cars details has a dropdown menu that allows the change of the reg number.

08 Mk3 2.0 RC Sport Copper Red Sold

You can't do it yourself, as I have just found out, having bought a new (pre-registered) ND and put a private plate on it.

Here's what you do ...

Reregister the car and wait for the new V5.
Scan a copy of the V5 and send it to Mazda UK by email with a request update your "My Mazda" details.
Use this email address mmukassistance@mazdaeur.com

Hope that helps

Thanks. I had read somewhere that there was an email version, but I couldn't find the instructions again. Haven't got round to changing the plate yet though.
