Rusting Mk3

Postby drumtochty » Sat Feb 23, 2019 11:16 am

MX5Restorer do a weekly video of what's in their workshop. This week they have a 2006 Mk3 with some rust issues worth a look for Mk3 owners.

No connection with MX5Restorer. The Mk3 section is 4 min 30 seconds in to the clip.

Hi Eddie,
Well done for keeping us informed with MX-5 news.
You will be making a few Mk3 members twitchy about what lies underneath the sills on their cars.

Not a big surprise from what has happend on the Mk1 and Mk2 and the "how to's" I have done on the Mk3 and MK4.

The car is a soft top and appears to be rusting from thr inside, I guess water from the internal drains has got into the sill area.

One of the guys on the run on Sunday has a 2011 car and he took the rear wheal arch protectors off to get at the suspension and he found all the holes the the plastic clips that hold on the protectors had a good bit of rust on them. He spent a day or two on the rear end rubbing down and priming and painting the areas.
