New user from Flanders MX-5 Club in Belgium

Postby netwave » Fri Sep 15, 2017 10:31 am

Hi everyone,

My name is Steven Spits. I'm a board member of the Flanders MX-5 Club in Belgium. I'm driving a Stormy Blue NC (mk3) built in 2010. Before that, I drove an NA (mk1) for 17 years.

I want to drive the NC500 next year, more on that here. I'm hoping to get some information, and maybe even meet some of the locals.

With kind regards,

Steven Spits

Welcome! I hope you enjoy the trip if you take it. May I suggest you go out of season as it can get busy with tourists.

Hi Bob,

Thank you! As mentioned in this thread, I'm planning to do the NC500 in May or June 2018. Would you call this 'out season'...?

The problem in the summer in Scotland is people from mainland Europe come visiting with motor homes and clog up the roads in the tourist areas.

Therefore make it May as less motor homes will be on the road.

Book you accommodation in advance as there is not a lot of accommodation in those specific areas.

In Scotland the weather can never be guaranteed but over the last few years May has been pretty nice: clear, mostly dry and quite sunny (if not especially warm) so May seems like a good shout from that perspective too.

The NC500 takes in some beautiful roads that show off some fantastic scenery. I make a point of travelling at least some bits of it every year. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you come.

As has been said, May is probably best. I wish you well on your trip. PM me if you want a meet up before heading farther North.
