Steve Bloxham Mx 5 guy in Berwick

Postby peterjm1 » Fri Jun 07, 2019 11:38 am

Hi everyone - I believe someone has brought this to the forum - I’ve put down money towards a replacement hood and this guy is taking ages to communicate and confirm a date for the work - the Summer will be over by the time he does this - anyone had any dealings with him ?

Not heard of him although I have heard of a trader who buys/sells MX5's in Berwick.

The guy has a name for promising the earth and then not answering the phone.

He works with the guys down at Roland Gill south of Newcastle and they too are big on promises but can make too many promises to too many people.

I spoke with Steve about his imported MX5's. I know how long jobs take on cars and how much parts costs.

What he was advising to me on what they did to cars they imported made no sense from a financial point of view. When you looked at his on costs and what they charged for their cars unless corners were cut.

Cheers - it’s frustrating trying to deal with this but if I get my hood ( eventually) that will be a result

Thanks

It's not a question of "If" you get your hood, but when since he has some of your money.
My advice is to get your money back pronto ( if you can) after finding where he is sourcing it from, and then speak with Andrew Stott at Autolink in Dumfries to get it fitted.
That's where I'm going in a couple of weeks but I'm supplying my own ( new) hood from a rot-write off I bought cheap.
Suffice to say, the OC forum has a few comments about his business practices...and I'll leave it at that.
As ever, opinions differ.
All I know about him is he has lost two referred-lead sales from me over the years just because of poor communication.
I've no experience in dealing with him directly.

Try posting a comment on his FB page (Goodwood Sportscars) - he’s active on there most days I’ve noticed.

Checked that FaceAche site last night.
Not a lot of reciprocal dialogue going on there either.

I have just had a new lovely green mohair hood fitted to match the paintwork by Steve from Goodwood sport cars on the 10th of June and is a first class Job , had no problems arranging the date to get it fitted , I also found Steve to be very helpful to the point that he even collected us from the centre of Berwick after he had completed the fitting of my new hood to my Mk1 .

Hi folks
Steve is often out of mobile range, I suspect.
I was down a couple of weeks ago, Steve took off and replaced the hood on Itchy to fit a missing drain tube I had.
Basically a tutorial for me and a good chat on Mk2 RSs.
Think Steve like a few in the trade has a regard for this unloved variant of our beloved car
To summarise - job done, nearly 3 hours, very reasonable cost - top man Steve :D :D
Unfortunately he does not have a post ramp in the current premises so it was done on the floor and replacing the sill grommet defeated both
of us but was a two minute job back at - (MAJOR PLUG) - Edinburgh Honda Specialist in Leith. :D :D
One Kris Baillie - true gentleman with total absence of up selling or bullshit who does all my four vehicles -
- JDM 2003 Toyota Alphard (8str MPV converted - aka ALF the camper) - BU51 ALF
- JDM 2000 Mazda MX5 Mk2 1.8RS - aka Itchy - W106 XMA (get it?)
- 2011 Honda Civic 1.8 Vtec - NR55 TGR
- 2012 Honda Jazz - SK12 GWG
So - two recommendations in one post - not bad.
