Latest On AK Automotive South of Newcastle

Exciting news for us here at AK Automotive!!

After trying for what seems like an eternity, we have eventually acquired the plot next door.
We have loads of plans for this plot in the future, but right now it enables us to move and expand our used parts department and car sales venture, as space has become a big problem for us.

This means we can reorganise the garage / yard and move the car sales operation down from Berwick which has been a logistical nightmare recently. We will now have our whole operation on one site: garage, motorsport team, car sales, parts sales and paintshop all next door to each other.

Lots will be changing over the coming couple of months, as AK Automotive moves up a gear!!!

But they also posted a month or so ago that it was no longer going to be economic to import cars from Japan as the auction prices were going up and that had the effect of pricing them out the market but they are now importing Mk2 cars that will allow them to carry on for a while.

I think it is.

Spoke to Steve on Facebook and he said the new venture, named Woodside Cars was going to be based in Rowlands Gill (i.e. unit next to current AK unit) and he would be based there as well so take from that what you will re current Berwick setup.

Suspect MX5s will be here and there as well, they are diversifying away from them AFAIK.

That is a 66mile trip each way to Rowland Gill from his home.

Just the thing you want at this time of year!

AK seem to be too few bodies on the ground to do too many things and tending not to deliver on some.

Always the problem managing a growing business, do you bring in more staff and expand premises and what if the work drys up.

Never an easy thing to do!

Ha ha, if you look on that link, the 5th row down, the black V-Special being advertised...all those photos are from my car back when it was standard looking!

Good to see prices for fresh imports heading up, i.e. good for people that may be looking to sell good condition recent'ish imports at some stage in the future ;)
