MK3 Oil pressure Gauage Movement

Postby gwalker » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:35 pm

Hi
Just sold my Mk2.5 after nearly 9 years, now have a Mk3 2ltr Sport.

The Oil pressure gauge of my Mk 3 moves with change in speed, increases (to the right) with speed and reduces as you slow down(to the left).

Sometimes it stays in the middle, it does not however go out of the limits stated in the handbook. I ask this question because in my Mk2.5 the needle stayed in the middle of the dial always.

Is the movement related to speed normal with the Mk3 Sport?
Cheers Graham

Hi Graham

This sounds normal, my old Mk 3.5 did that from new.

My MK3.5 Sport Tech behaves exactly in the same way.
MK3.5 2.0L Sport Tech, Stormy Blue.

The mk2.5 oil pressure gauge wasn't a true gauge more a switch hence its fixed position in the middle, sounds like they have gone back to a proper one which will rise and fall and is normal.
Although it probably electronic now and controlled through the ecu.
